Look out of any window, any morning, any evening, any day amidst Summertime Chi.
You’ll find umbrellas up, Miller Lites a-flowin’, the sun a-shinin’, and the boys a-hangin’.
This was the scene, bright and early at 3PM, for those of us lucky enough to have Summer Hours (i.e. for those of us who don’t work for communists)
Good old Kirkwood Bar & Grill: A Lakeview staple with an unbeatable patio, a polygamous relationship with the BIG10, and a General Manager with an eye for hiring top talent.
Weekend excitement rouses as our table populates one by one. Talk of tomorrow’s tee times fill the local airwaves.
Three beers in, all feels good and the world’s problems slowly fade into the background, and we decide it’s time to fire up some food orders.
Naturally, I’m going with the wings. I haven’t posted in two weeks. I’m due.
Kirkwood is a respected establishment, so I expect their wings to turn out decent. And luckily, they did.
Well-sauced, normal-sized, bar buffalo wings. The sauce skewed slightly towards the more oily/buttery end but was well within acceptable range.
Though I’m not sure that they serve them in bulk, I could easily see myself happily hammering 20-40 of these if I’m here watching a football game (God willing)
I asked for both ranch and bleu, and that went over just fine. No extra charge as far as I could tell. Always + a few points for that!
Overall: Nice balanced sauce, not too hot, good sauce coverage, solid presentation. Solid B.
Nice job Kirkwood!
